Sequitur and mezzo-soprano Mary Nessinger will perform Michael Fiday's Protest Song at Bargemusic on Friday, May 21, 2010. "Gonzo Variations (Hunter S. Thompson in memoriam)" will receive it's world premiere by The American Composers Orchestra, 7:30pm, Zankel Hall, New York, NY. "Same Rivers Different" was reviewed by Laurence Vittes in the August edition of Gramophone Magazine, citing it as "a disc to treasure," touching "musical nerves of almost indecent intimacy." "9 Haiku" will be performed by Bethanne Walker - flute, and Nathaniel LaNasa - piano, at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME, August 1st. The Stroke That Kills, a disc of new music for electric guitar played by Seth Josel, has been released by New World Records, featuring Michael Fiday's Slapback for electric guitar and delay unit. "Lament" from Aphorisms for violin solo, and Dharma Pops for violin duo were both performed by Piotr Szewczyk and Max Huls as part of the Violin Futura Project, Music @ Main, Main Library, Hicks Auditorium, Jacksonville, FL. Lament from Aphorisms for solo violin will be performed by violinist/composer Piotr Szewczyk at the College-Conservatory of Music/University of Cincinnati, as part of his "Violin Futura" project. Two works will be featured on the F(X) Marathon concert in Miami, Florida: Same Rivers Different, performed by percussionist Justin Wolf, and Hands On! performed by Mantra Percussion Quartet. The concert lasts from noon to midnight, and will take place that the SUYU Cultural Affairs Center in North Miami. |
